Margarita estilo Karina's

Karina's

This weekend we decided to visit one of our old favorite Mexican Seafood Restaurant  in Chula Vista.  If you are a Marisco's kinda person, you have to check this place out!  Food is great, drinks are great,  if you are a guy you are sure to enjoy the waitress's outfits.  Weekends they usually have Mariachi playing as well, but for some reason we didn't get to enjoy the music of the Mariachi playing while we were enjoying our Marisco's and drink's, perhaps next time.  So the exciting thing about this place is that they are soon opening one up here in Eastlake! I'm so very excited since the location will be about 2 miles away!! I can Imagine sitting out on the patio, sun shinning on my face, eating ceviche, and enjoying a nice cold Margarita.  Ahh... Can't wait for summer time!
Karina's Margaritas are FABULOUS!  I'm sure that their secret to the perfect sweet and sour taste is that they make their own mix.  I can tell they add natural sugar, they make it to perfection. I usually order a shot of my favorite tequila to have after a margarita when I eat marisco's but this time the margarita's were so very delish that's all I wanted to have.
I should try to find their recipe.  If I get it I will be sure to let you guys know.
If you visit Karina's be sure to order the "Perfect Margarita".  It is perfect!

National What?

Today is National Margarita day!

I got a few messages from different people asking me if I was going to be having some margaritas tonight since it is a very important day.
I was debating over going to a bar down the road from our house that has pretty excellent margaritas or making one here at home.  Since I had a pretty busy day I went straight to Trader Joe's after work  to pick out a tequila for the beverage I may be making at home later.  I stood in front of the bottles for about 5minutes  wondering which one I should pick, and well if you are standing there, staring at bottles of tequila for that long at a place like Trader Joe's people may start thinking you have a drinking problem, so I decided not to get anything and instead go to a bar after I taught my 7:00pm Yoga class in National City.
By the time my class ended I was pretty beat from my long day at work and my pretty intense Yoga class so when I got home I really wasn't feeling it.  I told my Phil (my fiance) that I was going to go to the bar for a quick drink..  He looked at me funny and asked why.  I told him it was National Margarita Day and that I felt like I should to celebrate.  It was about 9:30p.m. when I was thinking abut going to the bar and by then it would be closed... Yes, this place I wanted to go to closes the bar at 9:00pm.
I was pretty determined to celebrate this VERY Special day so I took a trip to Vons with my good pal Cooper, the chocolate Lab.
I picked up a few items that I needed for my recipe and well... here I am, about 10:00pm and just took my first sip.  This is dedication my friends, to something that you love.  ♥  haha!

Yoga y Margaritas

Yoga & Margaritas

I dragged my sister in Law to one of my Yoga classes last week.  She claimed to be tired from the run she had earlier that day, but when I mentioned to her that she would feel less tension in her muscles, would have a better night sleep, and would get a Margarita after her hour of Yoga she immediately agreed to come with.
I think it was capping the night off with a Margarita that may have convinced her.
I had a pretty nice turn out at the studio.  I was subbing for a teacher that went out of town, so it wasn't my usual class.  I didn't know how to work the music right away, well actually it was not working properly so it really wasn't my fault.  My class was waiting for me for about 4 minutes, which when you are just sitting on your mat quietly and just looking around it seems more like 20 minutes.  I was a little worried, but turns out my students liked me a lot better than the regular teacher.  Ouch.  Should I tell her?  Maybe not.   My response was all teachers have different styles you just have to find what it right for you.
What do you say when someone says that to you?  I think I need different lines for people because I never want to put down another instructor.  Suggestions?

After class my sister in law and I decided to go to Casa De Pico in La Mesa since it's so close to her house for a nice refreshing margarita. I had a regular house Margarita on the rocks with a little salt.  It looked really nice but looks did not go very far for me in this case.  It was a pretty bad margarita.  I can usually tell if a Margarita is not going to be so good when it's a bright neon yellow color, but the bar was so poorly lit that I didn't get to see the bright signs.
I took a nice big first sip and immediately had to take a bit of a chip to take some of that sweet and sour taste out of my mouth.  Next time I go there I may let them know exactly how I like my margaritas made.  Is that bad?

Refreshing Paloma's

Paloma's

A Paloma is one of my favorite drinks. If you like a nice refreshing Margarita I think you are sure to enjoy this cooling, bubbly beverage as well.
It's One of Mexico's most popular cocktails! The Paloma is a perfectly refreshing combination of sweet and tart with grapefruit, lime, and a pinch of salt.

To make this pretty drink you will need:

2oz of your favorite Tequila (I like to use Patron Silver or Hornitos)
1/2 of a lime's juice
Pinch of salt
1 cup of Ice
Grapefruit Soda (Mexican soda brand Jarrito's is better but you can use other kinds) or
Squirt
Lime peel for the fancies ♥

First fill your tall glass with the ice, squeeze the lime juice in the cup, add a pinch of salt, next add your tequila, and top your glass off with grapefruit soda.
Put it all in a shaker to give it a little rock and roll mix and salt the rim of your glass if you would like
(I choose to salt my rim because I love the little bits of salt you get with every sip)
Pour your drink in your salted/unsalted glass, use lime peel to fancy it up and ENJOY!

Trust me when I say if you like Margarita's you are sure to enjoy this tasty, pretty drink.

Salud!  Let me know what you guys think if you make it!
